Blueberries 2020
WELL ALL GOOD THINGS HAVE TO COME TO AN END. OUR FARM WILL OFFICIALLY CLOSE ON JULY 31, 2020 AT 6:00 PM. WE THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR.
As well as selling Christmas Trees, Ratliff Tree Farm also has a Pick-Your-Own Blueberry Farm. We have upgraded our building to help guard against the COVID-19 virus and will practice social distancing for your safety. We have over 900 plants that have the biggest and the best-tasting blueberries in the Shenandoah Valley. Blueberries are only $3.50 a pound. We also have a limited amount of already picked berries that we pick daily. They are $5.00 a pint. We will deliver PRE-ORDERED berries to the Broadway Farmers Market this year on Saturday mornings at 8:00 am. Please call us by Friday at 1:00 pm to place your orders. All berries at the market will be $5.00 a pint. Like us and share us on Facebook.
We encourage you to bring your own picking buckets for picking blueberries, but containers should be brought to take the blueberries home in.
Hours of operation: Monday thru Thursday 8:00 am till 12:00 pm. Friday and Saturday 8:00 am till 6:00 pm. We start picking at 8:00 am and pick till the berries are all so come early.
As there are many varieties of blueberries that ripen at different times, we chose ones that ripen in July. We have built a new blueberry stand for your convenience and added additional parking. Will keep you posted on Facebook with our latest information. Hope to see you soon The Ratliff family.

- Once picked, don't place the berries, still warm from the sun, in a closed bag or container. Leave the container open so moisture doesn't form in the container.
- Don't wash berries until just before using, to prevent berries from becoming mushy.
- CHILL BERRIES SOON after picking to increase shelf life. Store your fresh blueberries in the refrigerator as soon as you get them home, without washing them, in a covered bowl or storage container. If refrigerated, fresh-picked blueberries will keep 10 to 14 days.
- Freeze berries in freezer containers without washing to keep the skins from toughening. Place berries one layer deep. Freeze, then pour the frozen berries into freezer containers. Because unwashed blueberries freeze individually, they can be easily poured from containers in desired amounts. Remember both frozen and fresh berries should be rinsed and drained just before serving. Just before using, wash the berries in cold water.
- Berries will continue to ripen several days after picking.
